Booking entertainment for a corporate event carries more risk than booking it for a birthday party — your reputation and your guests' experience are on the line. Here's what to actually ask before you sign anything.
- Are you insured? Most corporate venues require the performer to carry liability insurance. Ask for proof, not just a yes.
- Have you performed for corporate audiences before? Not all entertainers who are great at kids' parties translate to a room of executives and clients.
- Can the show be customized to our company? A generic act is fine for some events. For a company milestone or client event, ask specifically how your name, product, or message gets woven in.
- What's your backup plan if you're sick or your flight is delayed? A professional has an answer to this. If they don't, that's worth noting.
- What do you need from us? Table, power, mic, projector, staging area. Get this in writing early so it's not a surprise on event day.
- How long is the actual performance, and how long do you need to set up? These are different numbers — don't confuse them when planning your run of show.
- Is the content clean and appropriate for a mixed professional audience? Ask directly. You don't want to find out during the show.
- What's included in the quote, and what's extra? Travel, overtime, additional performers, sound equipment — get a clear breakdown.
- Can you send references or reviews from actual corporate clients, not just private parties?
- What's the cancellation and rescheduling policy? Corporate events move dates more than private ones. Know the terms before you need them.
Any performer who answers these clearly and directly, without hedging, is worth taking seriously. If they get vague or defensive, that's useful information too.
